Watching Dad play hockey

Dad had a rare early game on a Saturday so the girls were able to go and watch Daddy play.   They had a great time and keep asking to go back.

Emma likes to watch the Zamboni on the ice but I got Norah to give me a smile.

Emma’s Valentine

Emma and her neighbor buddy Max have a special friendship.    One day a couple weeks before Valentines Day Emma decided to make Max a card with Grandma Jan…. here is the end result.

Oh Baby!

Well the word is out.   Baby Mortenson 3.0 will make his/her appearance in early July.   Today we had our ultrasound and it went great.  Baby is right on track and was very feisty when the technician was pushing on my belly.   At one point when she was measuring the baby’s head you saw this little hand come up to push her away.   It was really precious.

This morning on our way to daycare I mentioned to the girls that we were going to get pictures of the baby.   Emma thought for a moment and said “can the baby smile already?”  It was very cute.

We are so very blessed and thankful that God has give us another little one to love and cherish.

Mom and Dad’s Getaway

This year for our birthdays Grandma Jan gave us the perfect present… a weekend away!    Mike and I went up to our favorite place on the North Shore.   Grand Superior Lodge in Two Harbors.    It was a weekend filled with fun, relaxation and adventure.    On Mike’s birthday I surprised him with tickets to the Gopher vs Bulldogs game up at the new arena in Duluth.   We had a blast and the good thing was the Gophers didn’t loose!  : )

Saturday was a day of total relaxation.   First starting with no alarms or a sweet voice in the monitor saying “Mommy, is it morning yet?”.  Instead it was me saying to Mike,  “Honey, it’s 10:00 we better go get breakfast before they stop serving”.   Yes we didn’t get up until 10:00 and it was AMAZING!   That evening we just went into town and grabbed a pizza to bring back to our room so we could watch the second Gopher game of the weekend.

Sunday we awoke to this amazing sight…..

Then it was time for part 2 of Mike’s birthday present.   I had planned a trip for him to go dog sledding with a local guide in Two Harbors.   He was pretty excited and the sights at Silver Creek Dog Sledding were pretty cool.   They have a team of 30 dogs,   some of which just finished the Beargrease Race earlier in the week and came in 4th!   Pretty impressive.

Had to take a photo of the black dog in the background, this one is being leased to the Wallin’s by a guy in Montana who is no longer racing.   In the past he had won the Beargrease 4 or 5 times and this was his lead dog who has won 10 sled dog races altogether.   Very pretty looking dog.

It was an amazing weekend but we were happy to get home to our girls.

Thanks to Grandma and Papi for watching the girls so we could getaway.
